Mr. Penfield is the Director of the Enforcer Initiative for MBDA Inc.

As Director of the Enforcer Initiative, Mr. Penfield is responsible for all business development and technical program management for the Enforcer Weapon System in the United States. Additionally, he manages Trade Show activity for MBDA Inc.

Before his promotion to this new role, Mr. Penfield was the Manager of Engineering responsible for overseeing engineering staff and support activities for MBDA Inc. at our Huntsville, AL production facility.  During this time, Mr. Penfield also served as Chief Engineer on the DiamondBack Wing Assembly (DBWA) Production Program.  In this role, Dave supported a greater than 100% increase in production over several years to meet the demands of the U.S. Air Force’s Small Diameter Bomb Program.  In 2019, Mr. Penfield also assumed the role of Trade Show Manager where he was responsible for the organization of all MBDA Inc. participation in U.S. Military Trade Shows across the U.S.  In this Trade Show role, he supported the marketing of MBDA products to potential military customers.  In preparation for his new role as Director of Enforcer, and in parallel with his Engineering and Trade Show activities, Mr. Penfield has supported the business development efforts for Enforcer since around 2017 when MBDA began marketing Enforcer within the U.S.

Mr. Penfield started his career in 1987 at General Dynamics as an Operations Analyst on the F-16 and the YF-22 Programs.  He went on to Teledyne Brown Engineering in 1991, where he worked as a Principal Developer of the Extended Air Defense Simulation (EADSIM).   Before joining MBDA, he worked as the Manager of the F/A-18 Aircraft Mission Computer Software Development Team at McDonnell Douglas/Boeing and then as the Engineering Manager for the Viper Strike program at Northrop Grumman, which carried over to MBDA after MBDA Inc. purchased the Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems Sector.

Mr. Penfield holds a Bachelor’s in Aerospace Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA. He resides in Huntsville, Alabama, where in his free time, he enjoys working to restore classic American muscle cars for the enjoyment of himself, his wife, and his children.
